Food labelling app launches in Melbourne2

A new mobile phone app that tracks the salt, sugar and fat content in different foods has been launched this week in Melbourne. The Traffic Light Food Tracker has burst onto the scene months ahead of the Australian governments scheduled review later this year to eventually implement this type of system in supermarkets.

I would use this app, but also realise the potential for confusion among shoppers when items, like lollies, may have more green lights than red lights (due to ‘low’ fat and salt content). It’s not a perfect system, but I think it can definitely help you make more informed decisions when coupled with a bit of common sense.

Would you use an app like this?

This is such a great idea! I would definately use this if I had an iPhone :-D

  • There are so many ‘low, lite, free, non,’ ect options that it just adds to the confusion. I hope this one makes a difference.
