Fishy Fishy Fish and Chips

If you’re ever travelling along the northern NSW coastline, you must stop into a lovely little town called, Lennox Head. Here you’ll find a great fish and chip shop where the staff are friendly and the locals flock to. It’s a fishmonger, restaurant and takeaway, which means all the produce is as fresh as can be and top notch quality. The menu comprises all the usual suspects, cooked with skill, as well as a good range of other delicacies such as marinated skewered prawns, fresh scallops and local mahi mahi.

The floor to ceiling windows allow us to soak up the fantastic view while waiting for our meals. We sit on high chairs that lean against a long bench overlooking the main street and the beautiful beach. In no time at all, our warm salad of chilli salt squid and fish and chips arrive with a smile and we dive in.

The chilli salt squid is fantastic. The coating is nice and thin and has a good chilli hit without over powering the squid, which is perfectly tender. The accompanying salad is a clever combination of salad leaves, tomatoes, sweet potato crisps, feta and pickled ginger (I am so jealous I didn’t think of pickled ginger in a seafood salad, it is absolutely delicious).

The chips here are just the way I love them, crunchy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. The fish, however, is the star – the batter is crunchy and well seasoned and the fish is so fresh and moist that I want to eat another piece (but luckily restrain myself).

    My wife and i really love fishy fishy. We have been clients since day one. We love Malcolm and Kylie and have been savoring their delights since the days- M&K’s Little Restaurant (Lennox Head)in the 1980′s.
