Fig & Cherry’s a moviestar (almost)

June 13th, 2008 · 12 Comments

This year I’m working on video posts of some of my recipes. Some other food bloggers already do this, most notably, Katy at Sugarlaws who has two super cute ones under her belt already, check them out here and here.

But before I indulge you with my gorgeous Aussie accent, I found a really cool website called Animoto. The guys there have developed a very clever web application that ‘feels’ the music then edits, directs and applies motion design to suit.

All you do is upload your images and music (or choose from their library) then add a description and you’re done. What you end up with is an absolutely unique video every time and you can even remix your video endlessly to keep coming up with weird and wonderful versions.

I know this sounds like a major sales pitch, but I’m not affiliated with them in any way, I just think it’s really cool. So until I get the guts to get behind the camera, you’ll have to be satisfied by this little promo video of my best still shots.

Happy viewing! Christie

I was waiting to see you doing that whole Nigella, eating cream out of the tub thing. Aaaaw…missed out!

Great idea, not to sure if people will understand my South African accent though!

    Hi Noble Pig,
Give it a go! Maybe for your son’s baseball shots?

    Hi Ju’eta,
There’s still time honey - it’s good to get feedback on what people want to see though ;)

    Anyone else have some suggestions?

    Hi Rosemary,
Hehe, I can probably say the same for my Aussie one!

What a cool idea, sounds like a fabulous website. Very “sex and the city” music LOL. Sounds like an interesting new dimension to the whole food blogging thing, not sure that anyone would want to see my grimy, miniscule student flat kitchen lol.

    Hi Tangobaby,
Well, that’s encouraging! I better get filming, hey? ;)

    Hi Laura,
Thanks for the music comment. I don’t watch SATC but I think I know what you mean. It’s a very cool tune :)

Cool idea Christy, but not surprised your mind is always churning scoping out new things. Can’t wait to hear your accent.
