[The Aroma Festival Sydney, Chocolate Dipped Strawberries by Lush Berries]
Did you enjoy those pictures? I love bragging about how great Sydney is on a gorgeous Winter day. Look at those blue skies. I couldn’t help myself, I had to include the two famous landmarks in my photos of The Aroma Festival. Especially for my international readers.
The Aroma Festival was held in the historic Rocks area of Sydney which, you’ve probably guessed, also happens to be right next to Sydney Harbour. There was a massive turn up for the event which featured loads of stalls selling coffee, chocolate, tea and spices.
The coffees were all $1 each which made me think everyone would be frantic and high on a caffeine buzz, but the crowd was quite relaxed and friendly. My guess is because it was nice and warm and it was Sunday, plus stuffing your face with chocolate often puts people in a good mood. It works for me!
After doing a lap of all the coffee stands we settled on Cafe Migliore - they looked friendly and the line up wasn’t too long. The coffee (pictured) was good, nice and strong and creamy too. The poor baristas had about 2.3 seconds to make each coffee so they couldn’t really produce their best work. For $1 though, I can’t complain.
Once the coffee was gone The Bear and I wandered around looking for a suitable treat to indulge in. The Bear decided on a sticky date cup cake from The Cupcake Bakery, he’s a big cupcake and sticky date pudding fan so it was a no brainer.
It was a tough choice for me though. I almost got a little cup with chopped strawberries and melted chocolate from one of those fountains, but then I walked past the Lush Berries stand. Oh. My. Goodness. The strawberry on the left is dipped in dark chocolate and the other is dipped in milk chocolate and then dark chocolate chips. They were absolutely delicious.
It’s not the season for strawberries but somehow they were perfectly ripe, sweet and juicy. The chocolate was of very high quality and after the initial crunch it melted softly on my tongue. Just perfect.
The most disappointing section of the festival was the spices which was what I was most looking forward to. I didn’t think there was enough variety, only a few stands. It was as if they were tacked on at the last minute. I did try a really nice wine jelly paste although I can’t remember the company.
But between walking, browsing, tasting and catching glimpses of the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge and bright blue skies, there was more than enough to satisfy my senses. I’ll probably go again next year.

Hahaha, the cup wasn’t so small in my hands! We were at the Festival towards the late afternoon and it was fabulous. It’s great living in Sydney……

Hi ! I was there at the Aroma Festival too. I loved the chocolate covered strawberries. It was a great day with lovely weather - luckily, because last year it rained!

Can water really be that blue ;)! This is coming from a city gal who’s used to LA’s polluted pacific ocean beaches. Lovely! I would brag about Sydney too…but I have to go there first! Chocolate covered anything makes my mouth water! Those strawberries look huge!
