The Ultimate BLT: Cooking Live on Ten Breakfast6

The Ten Breakfast team had me on the show cooking the Ultimate BLT sandwich for Bacon Week. Mmmm, bacon.

This week I was lucky enough for their social media manager to take a few pics of me on set. There is also an interview with me on their blog if you want to check it out.

Meanwhile, here are my top tips for making the Ultimate BLT sandwich!

  1. Good quality bread: a nice crusty loaf. I got mine from Bourke St Bakery, drool!
  2. Fresh butter: preferably salted. I used Pepe Saya butter – it is the best!
  3. The best bacon you can find: cooked until crisp and drained well on paper towel.
  4. Vine ripened tomatoes: at room temperature.
  5. Cos lettuce: finely shredded.
  6. Sauce: a dollop each of mayonnaise and BBQ sauce.

  • That sure looks amazing! We used to sell BLATs at the cafe, and they would race out the door. Yay for bacon week!

  • I once spent and entire August afternoon in Wisconsin with my grandfather looking to build the ultimate BLT, same philosophy as yours (but a bit wasteful on gas…one town for eggs, anther for bacon, 5 stops forthe right tomatoes…)… In my case a great sandwitch but a really boreing story
