My raspberry love affair begins…9

Posted on October 25, 2011 by ChristieFood News

$8 a punnet and worth every single cent. (Sorry Northern Hemisphere readers!).

I’ve been hanging out for the summer berry and stone fruit season, so when I snapped up this punnet of raspberries, nothing could wipe the wide grin off my face.

I devoured half of them this morning with muesli, hazelnuts, thick yoghurt and honey. Oh, and I shared a few with baby Poppy, who absolutely loved them.

Next on my Summer love affair list are white-fleshed nectarines. Then: cherries, lychees, mangoes, pineapple, strawberries, blueberries and mangosteens. Watch this space.

What is your must-eat seasonal fruit?

  • Hmm, feeling a little jealous. No sign of them here yet. I love them simply with some whipped cream or good, thick yoghurt – delicious.

    • Oh bummer. Soon, Amanda. I love them with whipped cream too.

  • oh man, I CANNOT WAIT for peaches!

  • I went and bought 5 berry bushes on the weekend so I can have my own fresh supply each season. I also have a stash in the freezer, but they’re never the same as freshly picked, yummm…

  • mangoooooooooooo

  • Oh yes! Raspberries, aren’t they just the jewels of the summertime fruits. I have to tell you that I’m fond of all fruit… my favourites include apples and pears in autumn and winter; stone fruits (cherries especially), mangoes, all the berries in Summer; citrus too. And watermelon of course. And then grapes, and figs, and cumquats, and persimmons, and so it goes on.

  • I’ve been quite obsessed with strawberries and blueberris at the moment. Def need to get some raspberries on the go :)

  • I’m feeling that! Blueberries are getting me this time of year. Only $4.00 a punnet the other day! I went to the markets in melbourne last week and found some mulberris for $3.00 a punnet. That sort of thing just doesn’t happen in Sydney!

  • I love Summer fruit! My favourite are cherries and white peaches/ nectarines :)
