A very sweet start to 2009!11

The lovely Y from LemonPi has kindly made a macaron homage to my favourite chocolate bar, cherry ripe. I am so touched I’m speechless – a very rare occurrence.

Y very sweetly named it “To Christie, with love”. It’s a mouth watering combination of bitter chocolate sauce, coconut sorbet, sour cherry compote, with chestnut crumble and custard.
Are you drooling? I am. Mmmm, custard.
Miss Y’s blog is definitely one to keep your eye on. Not only does she have a clever knack for combining the most delicious flavours, but is also quite a pro at plating up desserts, and photographing them in true food porn style.
Thank you very much for this gorgeous homage! Although we’ve never met in person, I am so flattered, and insist on taking you out for a coffee to repay you… no excuses!
What’s in store for 2009?
Here’s a few things I have in mind:
- Learn to drive a manual car (only automatic at the moment! Lame, I know).
- Make macarons, maybe the combo above, if I can handle it.
- Eat at Tetsuyas (if I can ever make it to the top of the waiting list!).
- Go to the Sonar Festival in Barcelona.
- Travel to and eat in Barcelona, New York and Tokyo.
- Make beetroot cured salmon.
- Perfect banana bread for The Bear.
- Grow heirloom and cherry tomatoes from seed.
- Fillet more fish myself (it’s surprisingly easy).
That should do for now. What are you doing in 2009?
