Spring has well and truly sprung where I am. How about you?
The strawberry patch is full of little red jewels and the frangipani trees have started to sprout green leaves. So pretty!
In this spirit, I thought I would share 5 spring-appropriate recipes, just in case you’ve got a little bit of time this weekend to get into the kitchen.
Let’s get started…

Spring to me personifies one vegetable – asparagus. That’s why number 1, 2 and 3 on the list feature this delicious vegetable!
1. Asparagus sausage sizzle. I came up with this little beauty last year, and I intend to recreate them this year, as soon as I get my hands on some new season asparagus.

2. Proscuitto wrapped chicken with garlic asparagus. In this recipe the asparagus gets sautéed in the chicken pan juices and flavoured with garlic and butter.

3. Spring potato salad. This gorgeous salad gets lightened up with yoghurt and freshly cooked spring green veggies like asparagus and broad beans.
Apologies for the tiny photo, this was shot on my old point and shoot camera and I can’t find the original photos to resize them.

4. Zucchini, garlic and chilli linguine. Spring time calls for light and fresh pasta dishes – no creamy, heavy sauces – just quickly sautéed veggies and bold flavours like garlic and chilli.

What’s Spring without a nice juicy cocktail?
5. Spring fling cocktail with ruby grapefruit juice, lychee and gin. Cheers!
I’m off to a country wedding today in Scone, so I’ll be doing more eating than cooking this weekend, but I hope these recipes have inspired you!
