I am a bit of an appliance freak. I love trying out new kitchen gadgets and the best part of writing this blog is testing new products and working with great brands.
No gadget is too small or too big to review, so if you have one then please get in touch via my PR/Advertising page.
UPDATE: This competition is now closed.
Slow cookers are amazing.
This soup made itself while I went out all day with my Mum to Mathilda’s Market (baby stuff) and shopped up a storm.
I simply rummaged around in the fridge and freezer, chucked everything into the slow cooker, put the lid on and then came home to the intoxicating smell of homemade chicken soup.
I was lucky enough to receive this slow cooker as a gift from Lorraine at Beyond the Square Communications so that I could trial the new range of McCormick Food slow cooker recipe bases.
I tried the Moroccan Lamb Casserole and it turned out beautifully, but my photos came out terribly, so I couldn’t bear to post them here.
The good news is that it’s got me hooked with experimenting with my own slow cooker recipes (hence this chicken soup!) but I’ve got 6 packs of slow cooker bases left and I thought I’d give them away to you!
I tend to forget that not everyone likes to make up their own recipes and most people love pre-mixed recipe bases to take the guess work and hassle out of making dinner. That’s why I’m giving one lucky reader the chance to win the six packs.

Nestle Survival For the Active Family is the latest from the Nestle Survival series of cookbooks released by the AIS (Australian Institute of Sport).
I was sent a copy by the lovely Fiona from Mark Communications PR to test out some of the recipes.
It’s filled with healthy recipes including makeovers of unhealthy recipes like the one pictured above; beef stroganoff.
Most of the recipes are contributed by Australian athletes and other people who work at the AIS, such as dietitians. I like the way they describe the story behind each of their contributions and chat about how they personally feed their families and encourage healthy eating habits.
If you’re sitting there shaking your head then I don’t blame you at all. When Bessemer (an Australian cookware manufacturer) contacted me about trying this out I was completely convinced that it would not work.
I watched the Bessemer pizza promotional video on youtube and couldn’t believe my eyes. There was just no way you could cook a pizza in a pan on the stove top and have it turn out halfway decent, right? Wrong!
Now, before I tell you exactly how to do it with step by step instructions I want to preface it by saying one thing. If you’re after a proper, authentic wood-fired pizza then that’s not what you’re going to get.
However, if you’d like to make your family pizza from scratch and kiss goodbye to overly salty and fatty frozen pizzas, then this is the cookware for you.
Added bonus: You make the whole thing, including the dough, in the one dish so there’s no messy flour to clean up! (more…)
This review is a little overdue, but in light of my recent adventures, it couldn’t be helped.
I’m quite a big Bill fan to be honest. I adore the breakfast food in his restaurant, Bills. I mean, who doesn’t? Especially the corn fritters with bacon and the ricotta hotcakes with honeycomb butter (pure genius combo!). (more…)
