Today is less of a recipe, more of a philosophy. A rough method, if you will.
Long time readers will know of my intense hatred of food wastage. Yes, hate is a strong word, but in this context it is warranted. I absolutely can’t stand allowing food to go bad in the fridge – it’s the reason why I keep my fridge well organised and clean pretty much all the time.
My favourite way to use up bits and bobs from the fridge and pantry is to make a salad. A chuck everything in salad. (more…)

If you look closely you can also see egg yolk dripping down my arm.
Really classy, I know.
But I’ll tell you what, it was worth the sticky egg stains. That was one of the best bacon and egg rolls I’ve had up here in the Northern Rivers.
It’s from a brand new cafe called The Belle General at Shelly Beach in Ballina, and it’s got me salivating to get back and eat the rest of the menu! (more…)
For the last five Mondays I have posted five divine avocado breakfast recipes that I was commissioned to create.
They may have fooled you into thinking I eat beautifully styled food every day.
Sadly, I do not.
Today I’m here to set the breakfast record straight. I’d like to start sharing some Keeping It Real posts on a casual basis (read: sporadic) so that it doesn’t look like I live in food styling lala land. Believe me, I don’t.
I eat way more slapped together meals than I care to admit to. I’m a mum of two young kids, that is just life.
I’m not going to get all sentimental about how my baby girl is 3, but really, I can’t believe it! 3 years went really fast.
Poppy’s favourite things to eat recently are watermelon and icing (from cupcakes or donuts). So when I saw this amazing idea on my amazing friend Viola’s blog (go check it out) I was all set for her birthday cake.
You see, this isn’t a cake at all….
It’s a big square of watermelon covering icing.
