UPDATE 15/8/11: This competition is now closed. Congratulations to Karina, Amanda and Seana.
The lemon sauce that accompanies this duck breast is not for the faint hearted; it is jam-packed with sour lemony goodness. If you’re not that keen on lemons, I’d give the sauce a miss, although you could add more sugar – but where’s the fun in that?
The rich, fatty lusciousness of duck needs a nice tart sauce to cut through it and these Game Farm duck breasts I was sent recently are no exception.
But duck and sauce are not a complete meal! So when I spotted a super fresh bunch of mizuna at Marrickville Farmers Market on the weekend, I just knew it was destined to be stir fried with garlic and served alongside some crispy duck. Voila! Dinner is served.
UPDATE 26/7/11: This competition is now closed. Congratulations to Andrew P.
Ocean Spray are famous for their cranberry products but they also make a delicious ruby red grapefruit juice too. It contains 30% fruit juice and is high in Vitamin C with a 250ml serve providing you with 93% of your daily requirements.
Ruby red grapefruits are naturally sweeter than their yellow relatives making them more palatable for those who can’t handle super sour flavours. I’ve been experimenting with the grapefruit juice in a sweet dessert recipe that I will reveal to you next month, so look out for that one. (more…)
UPDATE 24/6/11: This competition is now closed. Congratulations to Deb, Cristina and Belinda.

In my humble opinion, there is nothing more fantastic than receiving seasonal produce in pristine condition, so you can imagine how I beamed with delight at receiving the above package.
Nine perfect pears of both Packham Triumph and Williams varieties and a bunch of mystery box goodies. How very Masterchef.
I am now on a mission to create a delicious dish that will go into a competition judged by David Bitton.
It’s quite nerve wracking and exciting and I already have an idea of how I will use these pears and some of the mystery ingredients of blue cheese, wild rice, monkey nut chutney and rosemary thyme and vanilla oil.
Once I’ve completed my creation I’ll post it here for your opinion.
Disclaimer: Fig & Cherry received the above package with compliments from Tegan at Impact Communications and Australian Pears.
UPDATE: Congratulations to GeorgieGirl! The Random Number Generator picked #24 and you were the 24th comment. Don’t eat all the chocolate at once!

Have you heard about the Cadbury Catch Up campaign? No? Then pay attention because it involves free chocolate.
Cadbury are trying to bring people back together – in person. Not on Facebook, or via text or chatting on Skype. But real face-to-face time sweetened with a block of chocolate.
Until the end of March, simply buy a specially marked block of Cadbury dairy milk, then enter the code on the Catch Up website and nominate your favourite person who will be sent a free 200g block. Cool, huh?
Before you go and do that though, I’ve got TEN x 200g blocks of chocolate to give one lucky winner – that’s a massive 2KG of chocolate. Can you work out how many glass-and-a-half’s of milk that is? When you do, try and convince yourself how healthy it is. Hehe.
My favourite Cadbury chocolate block as a kid was definitely SNACK. I used to love all the different flavours with strawberry being #1 and orange being my least favourite. Pineapple was good too. Oh, and coconut. OK, I can’t choose! Let’s get on with the comp… (more…)
